Giving different users different permissions is a good idea if you are going to have multiple users for your site. If you haven't already, read this guide: How To Add Users From the Backend. It will give you a good grasp of managing your users, and why you want them.
This guide will go over how to set the levels of permission for your users, and tell you what each level is capable of doing for your site. There are two types of users you can have on your site, 'frontend' users and 'backend' users.
