In all Simplweb tutorials, we often refer to two key computer terms
that are essential to know and understand: Folders and Directories.
In
computer lingo, a directory is unique place in a computer or website's
file system, into which individual files can reside. Learn more about directories.
Directories are often visually presented using a small icon of a
manilla folder. Because a computer file system resembles a paper file
cabinet system, individual files are often presented with an icon of a
sheet of paper, and thus a file directory is often shown like a manilla
file into which many individual files can be placed.
In our tutorials, Simplweb tries to refer to a directory as being a
directory/folder or folder/directory. The words are interchangeable.
