How to forward your domain

We highly recommend GoDaddy or Network Solutions. Unlike many registrars, they provide all the needed features for your to successfully point your domain to Simplweb

You can use the URL provided in your email, such as mysite.simplweb.com, as much as you like. You will probably want to get a full domain name however. These are usually perceived as more professional. To do this you will need to make a small adjustment to where you have your domain name registered.

Simplweb uses advanced technology to make sure that all the SEO and pagerank is fully passed over. Visitors will never see your subdomain, only the domain you have registered.

To set up your domain there are two steps:

1. Update your Simplweb Site with the domain name.

1.  Go to the backend of your Simplweb site:  http://590yoursite.simplweb.com/administrator and login.

2.  Click on Components> Site Manager> Domain Manager

3.   Click “New”

4.  Type in your URL Without the www.  Click “Save”

5.  Check the box next to yoursite.com and click “Apply”

Once you have set up your domain on simplweb.com, you need to correctly forward it from your registrar.

2. Setting up your Domain with your Registrar

In geek-speak, you need to create twp A name records that points to our server.

We use this technique, along with technology on our servers, to ensure that all pagerank (for SEO) is carried forward to your Simplweb site.

If you get stuck with your domain registrar, please post a request in the support forum and we will write a how to for you.

To do this you need to register a domain (we recommend GoDaddy or Network Solutions) and edit the "DNS"

  1. In the backend of the site you want to set up, go to Components > Site Manager > Domain Manager

  2. Enter your domain and save

  3. Click Apply (make sure you do this step and don't just save and leave)

  4. Create A records in the domain manager of your domain registrar pointing to 173.203.109.69

www IN A 173.203.109.69
@ IN A 173.203.109.69

NOTE: It may take a up to 24 hours for all of these changes to take effect. If you aren't sure how to do these, and are using GoDaddy or Network Solutions, we'll be more than happy to set this up for you.

Please note, you must be able to edit A records in your registrar, not all allow you to do this. You do not need to point to any nameservers

You can see a quick video of how to do this in GoDaddy here
